Whilst this may sound like a lot, it is not. GIFs work by presenting a selection of colors, like video, but is far more conservative. With GIFs you can get away with surprisingly low resolution and retain high quality. To avoid a massive file size you must consider the following: aspect ratio and resolution (as mentioned before), colors, length, frame rate, and "artefacting-level".Īs mentioned in the last section, know the precise aspect ratio and resolution to avoid unnecessary pixels. If you aren't completely sure of what resolution to export your video as, leave it on the higher end, as we can trim it down once we head into Photoshop.Ī GIF's file size is extremely sensitive, and can be 10 to 20 times the size of the video that created it if not done properly. Therefore, depending on the size of the GIF within the slide, try to reduce the resolution as much as you can. Whilst it may be tempting to keep a GIF in 1080p, doing so will have enormous effects on the file size, and therefore it is not recommended. Therefore, know exactly what size you need before editing your short video to stop yourself from needing to re-edit it multiple times. Plus, since they can include transparency, they can be any shape you would like as well. The great thing about GIFs, is that they can be any size you want, down to the exact pixel.
